Process Controls Manager - US Remote (Automation)

Location: Remote within the United States, including Texas; willingness to travel approximately 50% to manufacturing sites across the Americas is required.

What you will do

• Lead the Process Controls and Automation Center of Excellence, setting priorities, assigning work, and supporting manufacturing sites across the region.
• Define standards for control system architecture, instrumentation, programming practices, documentation, and OT infrastructure.
• Provide hands-on engineering for Rockwell PLC, Emerson DeltaV, HMI, SIS, DCS, MES, data historian, and industrial network environments.
• Manage control system reliability, upgrades, obsolescence, incidents, start-ups, and multi-site automation project delivery.
• Develop annual budgets, risk-based investment plans, business cases, and performance metrics for the controls portfolio.
• Build, coach, and develop a distributed team while partnering with Reliability, Operations, Maintenance, EHS, IT, AI, and project engineering.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, electrical engineering, or an equivalent technical discipline.
• At least 10 years of experience building, programming, and supporting industrial control systems in plant environments.
• Leadership experience with engineers, technical specialists, project teams, or matrixed organizations.
• Hands-on experience with Rockwell PLC, Emerson DeltaV, MES, data historians, SIS calculations, industrial networks, and data security.
• Ability to manage control programs and project portfolios across multiple remote manufacturing sites.
• Strong technical writing, communication, organizational, data analysis, and advanced Excel skills; SIS calculation certification and experience with ExSILentia are preferred.

Nice to have

• Advanced engineering degree or professional engineering registration.
• Experience with batch and continuous chemical manufacturing and unit operations.
• Experience with TwinThread, process analytics, AI-driven process improvement models, SAP PM, PI, AIMs, or related systems.
• Experience developing capital business cases and securing funding for automation or control-system obsolescence projects.
