OT Automation Manager (Manufacturing Automation)

Location: Richmond, Virginia, United States. The role is onsite in Virginia with a primary workplace and an average of three days per week in the office under the hybrid work policy. Global travel of 20–50 days per year is required. Relocation assistance is not available.

Salary: $104,327–$156,491 per year.

What you will do

• Own OT technology for Final Pack production lines and standardize automation platforms.
• Support the installation, commissioning, ramp-up, and continuous improvement of automated production equipment.
• Define automation and IT architecture with suppliers, mechanical designers, stakeholders, and global installation teams.
• Maintain, roll out, and implement local PLC software and OT equipment.
• Improve the modularity, robustness, productivity, usability, and serviceability of automation and mechatronics systems.
• Engage stakeholders and customers during and after the ramp-up of new automation equipment.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree preferred, with extensive experience in automation programming and mechatronics applications.
• Extensive experience installing, developing, designing, programming, and troubleshooting Allen Bradley PLC systems.
• Experience with ABB robotics, Rockwell Automation software, Studio 5000, and FactoryTalk Optix Studio.
• Experience with machine vision systems such as Keyence or Cognex, and industrial protocols including Ethernet/IP, MQTT, or OPC UA.
• Hands-on experience with functional safety, safety controllers, electrical diagrams, OT network setup, and troubleshooting.
• Fluent English is required for collaboration across time zones and multicultural teams.

Nice to have

• Experience with SAP, Python, EPlan, or PcSchematic.
• Knowledge of DevOps principles such as CI/CD or APIs including REST and OData.
• Experience with multiple automation brands and the ability to compare different solutions.
