Sr. SCADA Engineer

Location: Remote from the United States; based in or associated with Orlando, Florida. Requires a minimum of 50% travel to customer and project sites for field commissioning.

What you will do

• Develop and execute commissioning plans, schedules, procedures, and test programs for SCADA, automation, and communication systems in high-voltage substations.
• Lead testing and commissioning of SCADA systems, RTUs, HMIs, gateways, communication networks, protection relays, and control systems.
• Perform point-to-point and end-to-end communication testing, troubleshooting, system integration, and readiness checks for energization and handover.
• Coordinate with project managers, engineering teams, OEMs, telecom providers, utilities, and customers to resolve technical issues and meet project milestones.
• Supervise and mentor commissioning teams while maintaining safety, cybersecurity, quality, and project compliance.
• Prepare commissioning documentation, test reports, NCRs, communication test records, and as-built documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, automation engineering, computer engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5–10 years of experience in SCADA, automation, and communications commissioning, including high-voltage substation experience.
• Working knowledge of RTUs, IEDs, protection systems, utility control centers, BESS, substation controls, IEC 61850, DNP3, and Modbus.
• Ability to interpret network architecture drawings, control schematics, communication diagrams, and commissioning procedures.
• Strong communication, organizational, troubleshooting, and multitasking skills.
• Willingness to travel at least 50% for field commissioning work.
