Director, Legal Operations (AI)

Location: Remote, United States

Salary: $134.2K–$298.9K annual base salary, plus potential equity, bonus, and US benefits.

What you will do

• Own Legal Operations, Legal Technology, and Legal AI strategy, governance, execution, and the overall legal operating model.
• Lead budget planning, forecasting, accruals, cost modeling, legal billing, outside counsel, vendor management, and resource allocation.
• Manage the legal technology stack, including CLM, matter management, AI tools, knowledge management, intake, and spend management.
• Design intake, triage, demand-management, service-tier, SLA, and self-service frameworks.
• Build metrics, dashboards, controls, and ROI measurement for workload, demand, spend, efficiency, risk, and outcomes.
• Lead AI-enabled workflow implementation, change management, training, adoption, and secure integration across Legal.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in Legal Operations, legal technology, process design, finance-adjacent operations, or operational leadership.
• Experience scaling legal operations, technology, financial management, and data-driven execution in high-growth environments.
• Experience driving automation and AI initiatives from strategy through deployment, governance, adoption, and ROI measurement.
• Understanding of contracts, regulatory work, litigation, investigations, intake, outside counsel management, and process redesign.
• Hands-on experience with CLM, matter management, spend management, intake, knowledge management, and AI tools.
• Ability to translate requirements into technical roadmaps, establish metrics and controls, and influence legal, executive, and technical stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Experience in fintech, crypto, financial services, or other regulated industries.
• Background in enterprise AI governance, model risk management, or secure AI deployment.
• People management experience in Legal Operations or adjacent functions.
• Experience benchmarking Legal Operations practices, tooling, and cost structures.
