Senior Software Engineer II (Cloud Networking)

Location: Remote within the United States; available locations include Poughkeepsie, Lowell, Rochester, Tucson, Research Triangle Park, Armonk, Boston, Bellevue, Atlanta, San Jose, Dallas, Austin, San Francisco, and Seattle.

Salary: $188,000–$257,184 per year.

What you will do

• Build the software underpinning the Confluent Cloud network data plane platform.
• Design, develop, and operationalize high-performance, scalable, reliable, and resilient systems.
• Independently drive complex software projects from execution through production delivery.
• Build on open-source software to deliver business impact.
• Troubleshoot and improve operations for a technical stack spanning three public clouds, microservices, containers, and virtualization.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of relevant cloud infrastructure or cloud networking experience.
• Strong fundamentals in distributed systems design and development and experience operating large-scale systems.
• Understanding of systems operations, including disks, networks, and operating systems.
• Proficiency in C++, Go, Python, or another statically typed language.
• Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP and the ability to work effectively in a team.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree.
• Experience with Kubernetes Networking and Envoy proxy.
• Linux kernel networking experience; eBPF experience is a strong plus.
• Strong networking background combined with software engineering experience.
