Director, FP&A (AI)

Location: Remote, United States; the salary range is for US residents only

Base salary: $168,000–$285,600 USD per year

What you will do

• Serve as the strategic finance advisor to the CTO and R&D leadership.
• Lead annual planning, rolling forecasts, and operating plans covering headcount, compensation, contractors, cloud hosting, AI and LLM usage, software, and tooling.
• Build frameworks connecting R&D investment to product roadmap outcomes and evaluate business cases, AI initiatives, build-versus-buy decisions, and vendor commitments.
• Define R&D efficiency metrics, identify savings and reallocation opportunities, and track execution.
• Partner with People and R&D leaders on hiring plans, location strategy, and organizational design.
• Lead the AI transformation and redesign of FP&A processes, systems, policies, planning, and reporting workflows while developing the R&D finance team.

Requirements

• Extensive finance experience partnering with an R&D, Engineering, or Product organization and leading a team of analysts.
• Strong knowledge of financial statements, accounting principles, and R&D cost drivers, including engineering headcount, cloud hosting, AI and LLM usage, software licenses, and capitalized software development.
• Experience leading finance process redesign and using AI tools to improve workflows.
• Ability to influence senior technical stakeholders and translate complex analysis into executive recommendations.
• Advanced financial modeling skills, expertise in Google Sheets, and experience with financial and data visualization tools; Excel is not used for modeling.
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; comfort with remote, asynchronous work and hirify.global.

Nice to have

• Enterprise SaaS finance experience or direct CTO partnership.
• Experience with NetSuite, Sisense, Adaptive Planning, or SQL.
• MBA, CFA, or CPA qualification.
