Strategic Project Lead (AI)

Location: San Francisco, California, United States; in-office Monday–Friday with remote work on Saturdays. US work authorization required; no visa sponsorship.

Salary: $120,000–$200,000 base per year

What you will do

• Lead three to four concurrent human-data projects from kickoff through delivery.
• Recruit, organize, and manage expert contributor teams ranging from fewer than 20 to more than 1,000 people.
• Partner with AI lab researchers and translate their needs into executable project plans.
• Solve operational problems from first principles and build playbooks where none exist.
• Track quality, throughput, and timelines while resolving bottlenecks quickly.
• Coordinate across internal teams to keep projects moving at startup speed.

Requirements

• 1–5 years of experience in strategic, cross-functional, or project-based roles such as consulting, banking, investing, BizOps, or early-stage operations.
• Bachelor’s degree from a top university or a top postgraduate degree such as an MBA or Master’s.
• Experience working directly with founders or executive leadership.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to thrive in a rapidly growing startup environment and take on a purely operational role.
• Based in San Francisco or actively planning to relocate; US work authorization is required.

Nice to have

• Hands-on coding ability.
• Chief of Staff or Program Manager experience.
• Background in CS, Data Science, AI/ML, Cognitive Science, or Applied Math.
• Demonstrated interest in AI.
