FinOps Solutions Architect, Principal (AI/Cloud)

Location: Hybrid role based in the Bay Area, with in-person work at the Oakland Corporate Office 1–2 times per week or as required.

Salary: $155,000–$265,000 annually, with a Bay Area midpoint of $210,000. Eligible for discretionary incentive compensation.

What you will do

• Architect and scale FinOps platform frameworks, architectural patterns, governance controls, and data pipelines for cloud and AI cost management.
• Track and optimize LLM token consumption across AWS services including Bedrock and SageMaker, and Azure services including Azure OpenAI and AI Studio.
• Implement rate limiting, token throttling, multi-cloud model routing, anomaly detection, billing adjustments, and other cost-optimization automations.
• Define AI unit economics, cost and benefit models, tagging policies, KPIs, and reporting for business and executive stakeholders.
• Configure and administer FinOps tooling, integrate it with AWS and Azure, and optimize high-performance, reliable billing-data workflows.
• Advise engineering, product, finance, procurement, and application teams while coaching the Cloud Center of Excellence on FinOps practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Cloud certification such as Azure Solutions Architect Expert, AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate, or equivalent.
• 10 years of IT experience, including cloud FinOps or data engineering, with at least 2 years focused on AI/ML workloads and LLM infrastructure.
• At least 7 years of architecture or software development experience and 3 years of cloud architecture experience.
• Strong knowledge of AWS and Azure billing data, cloud architecture, LLM application architecture, tokenization, vector databases, API gateways, and orchestration frameworks.
• Strong SQL and Python skills, experience with large datasets and data pipelines, and the ability to communicate technical and financial risks to technical and executive audiences.

Nice to have

• Certified FinOps Professional experience building chargeback and data-quality frameworks.
• Experience with AWS Cost Explorer, Microsoft Cost Management, custom FinOps dashboards, Power BI, FOCUS data, Terraform, and ServiceNow.
• Experience forecasting AWS and Azure generative-AI services and leading or working with offshore teams.
