HR Generalist (Life Sciences)

Location: Hybrid position based at the Emeryville headquarters, California, US; responsibilities also cover employees in Durham, North Carolina, and Oro Valley, Arizona. Up to 5% domestic travel is required, with office hours from 8am–5pm PT.

Base compensation: $107,000–$140,000 per year, plus target bonus, equity, refresh grants, and ESPP.

What you will do

• Manage preboarding, onboarding, employee changes, offboarding, HRIS data entry, and compliance audits.
• Coordinate new hire orientation, employee communications, change management, and engagement initiatives.
• Support employee relations, issue resolution, documentation, employee development, and exit compliance processes.
• Administer HR policies, benefits, leave, workers’ compensation claims, return-to-work programs, and HR systems vendor relationships.
• Manage immigration cases with outside counsel and internal stakeholders, including case tracking and employee communication.
• Lead social and employee committees, engagement surveys, employer branding initiatives, and company events.

Requirements

• BA/BS in Business, Human Resources, or a related field.
• 5+ years of Human Resources experience at a growing company; Life Sciences experience is preferred.
• Experience with HR policies, compliance, benefits, immigration, and State and Federal HR regulations.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office and standard HRIS platforms.
• Strong interpersonal, written, verbal, organizational, and confidentiality skills.
• Ability to work independently, exercise judgment, and support employees at all organizational levels.
