AWS Infrastructure Engineer (Terraform/EKS)

Location: Hybrid in Fairfax, Virginia, United States, with up to 3 business days per week onsite

Salary: $140,000–$180,000 per year

What you will do

• Design, build, operate, and maintain secure AWS environments across commercial and GovCloud accounts.
• Develop and maintain Terraform infrastructure-as-code, including modules, remote state, policy enforcement, and CI/CD automation.
• Provision, upgrade, and operate EKS clusters, Helm add-ons, IAM roles for service accounts, and microservice integrations.
• Troubleshoot VPC networking, routing, DNS, TLS, load balancing, ingress, endpoints, and connectivity across AWS and external services.
• Support security remediation, compliance evidence collection, RMF/ATO documentation, change control, audits, migrations, and operational runbooks.
• Collaborate with application, security, network, and program teams while mentoring junior engineers and improving infrastructure resiliency.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship and an active DoD Secret clearance are required.
• Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent relevant experience; the posting also accepts 6 years of relevant experience or a high school diploma with 9+ years of relevant experience.
• Active DoD 8140 IAT Level II Security+ certification or higher is required.
• AWS CLF-C02 Cloud Practitioner and SAA-C03 Solutions Architect–Associate certifications are required.
• 6+ years of AWS infrastructure experience and 5+ years of experience with cloud networking, Terraform, Kubernetes networking, and network security.
• Proficiency with TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, TLS, routing, subnetting, NACLs, endpoint connectivity, Python or Bash, YAML/JSON, Git workflows, and FedRAMP, FISMA, or NIST 800-53 environments.

Nice to have

• DoD mission experience or federal secure cloud operations experience.
• Experience with SSPs, FISMA accreditation, multi-account AWS environments, IAM, SCPs, and segmentation.
• Familiarity with Elastic, ScienceLogic, AppDynamics, Zero Trust architecture, Cloud-Native ATO automation, ACM, and ACM-PCA.
• AWS Associate- or Professional-level certifications.
