IT Systems Engineer, Client Platform Engineer, macOS (AI)

Location: Boston, MA; San Francisco, CA; Seattle, WA; New York City, NY; or Washington, DC. Remote-friendly with travel required, and staff are expected to work from one of the offices at least 25% of the time.

What you will do

• Own macOS and mobile endpoint configuration as code, including MDM policies, configuration profiles, remediation scripts, staged rollouts, and rollback procedures.
• Operate the MDM platform as a production service, covering infrastructure as code, observability, upgrades, and incident response.
• Build patch-management automation and zero-touch provisioning for secure, productive devices from day one.
• Use fleet telemetry to create policies, dashboards, and early drift warnings, including automation of manual operations with Claude.
• Partner with Corporate Security on endpoint hardening, binary authorization, compliance controls, and detection and response.
• Participate in escalation rotations and resolve complex endpoint issues beyond the IT Operations tier.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience building secure IT systems in complex environments and leading cross-functional projects.
• Experience managing macOS fleets of thousands of devices through a modern MDM.
• Experience treating endpoint configuration as version-controlled, peer-reviewed code rather than console-based configuration.
• Strong knowledge of macOS internals, including launchd, configuration profiles, TCC, and system extensions.
• Ability to write Python and shell scripts, design documents, and operational runbooks.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education, training, or professional experience in a relevant field.

Nice to have

• Experience operating MDM or device-management platforms as services.
• Experience with Munki, osquery, AutoPkg, progressive rollout systems, public-cloud infrastructure as code, or Linux administration.
• Experience using LLMs to automate operations work.
