Power Systems Engineer (EMT Modeling)

Location: Remote within the United States; occasional travel of 10% or less may be required. The posting also lists Austin, Texas.

What you will do

• Perform electromagnetic transient studies, including subsynchronous resonance, control interaction, ferroresonance, temporary and switching overvoltage, insulation coordination, harmonics, transient recovery voltage, energization, and lightning studies.
• Develop local-system EMT models and tune disturbance ride-through models.
• Benchmark PSCAD and PSSE models and perform steady-state load-flow and short-circuit studies.
• Provide subject-matter expertise, coaching, and staff development.
• Advise generation, large-load, and merchant transmission developers while delivering projects on schedule, within budget, and to quality standards.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience in power system modeling and power system studies.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering with a power systems emphasis.
• Proficiency with power system modeling software such as PSCAD, EMTP, PSSE, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, ETAP, or CYMCAP, or equivalent tools.
• Strong understanding of IEEE, IEC, and CIGRE industry standards.
• Ability to work remotely from the United States.
• Experience using AI and automation tools responsibly to improve quality, productivity, and innovation.

Nice to have

• Experience with control system tuning.
• Experience with HVDC systems.
