Property Large Loss Adjuster (Property Claims)

Location: Unavailable, California, United States; remote and field-based role requiring regular travel to customer homes and commercial properties for onsite inspections. Most positions may work from anywhere in the United States.

Salary: USD 94,458–179,048 per year; California typical hiring range: USD 123,077.70–150,428.30.

What you will do

• Investigate, evaluate, and resolve high-severity residential and commercial property claims, typically exceeding $250,000.
• Conduct onsite inspections of damaged properties, including roofs, attics, crawl spaces, and other loss locations.
• Analyze coverage, policy language, endorsements, exclusions, legal requirements, and complex claim exposures.
• Document damages and prepare, review, and revise repair estimates using Xactimate and related tools.
• Manage reserves, claim expenses, vendors, diaries, open issues, and file documentation through resolution.
• Negotiate scopes, pricing, and settlements while coordinating with customers, contractors, experts, attorneys, vendors, and internal partners.

Requirements

• At least 7 years of successful property claims handling experience involving investigation, estimating, negotiation, and resolution of high-severity claims.
• Prior field adjusting experience with onsite inspections and detailed estimate writing.
• Advanced knowledge of property claim investigation, coverage analysis, estimating, negotiation, settlement practices, and residential construction.
• Strong technical proficiency with Xactimate and related claims or estimating systems.
• Required state adjuster licensing, continuing education compliance, and a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
• Ability to travel regularly and perform physical field inspections, including climbing ladders, accessing roofs, navigating uneven terrain, and entering confined spaces.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and relevant experience.
• Commercial claims, catastrophe losses, surge volumes, or experience with complex expert reports.
• Industry credentials such as AIC, CPCU, SCLA, IICRC, or Level 2 and above Xactimate Certification.
• Experience mentoring less experienced claims professionals and providing technical guidance.
