Senior Cloud Engineer (Azure)

Location: Home Based in Oak Brook, Illinois, United States. Remote status and role locations may change; relocation is not provided.

Salary: $100,200–$137,000 per year

What you will do

• Design, administer, maintain, and support enterprise infrastructure across public and private clouds, networks, firewalls, servers, operating systems, applications, and databases.
• Implement Azure cloud-native services, CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure-as-Code, AKS deployments, Istio service mesh, and Helm charts.
• Maintain VMware and cloud virtual environments, Microsoft Active Directory, deployment platforms, and infrastructure automation using Terraform, ARM templates, PowerShell, or similar tools.
• Implement and support firewalls, security appliances, disaster recovery, business resumption, backup, and restoration plans.
• Troubleshoot infrastructure, applications, AKS clusters, SQL Server databases, and deployment pipelines while supporting tickets and critical incidents.
• Collaborate with development, client service, security, operations, and business teams; provide technical expertise, documentation, training, and mentorship.

Requirements

• 5–7 years of experience in computer science or equivalent professional experience, with a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• At least 5 years of experience with Azure, Azure DevOps, CI/CD, Terraform, Kubernetes, AKS, Infrastructure-as-Code, and highly available systems.
• Experience with Azure PaaS and SaaS services, including API Management, Functions, Logic Apps, Service Bus, and Notifications Hub.
• Knowledge of Windows and Linux systems, networking, TCP/IP, firewalls, Azure VNets, VPN gateways, route tables, private endpoints, and cloud security.
• Experience with scripting or programming languages such as PowerShell, Bash, JavaScript, and Python, plus JSON, REST APIs, and SQL Server troubleshooting.
• Strong communication, analytical, prioritization, vendor management, client service, and problem-solving skills; ability to respond after hours to critical issues.

Nice to have

• Azure certifications such as AZ-900, AZ-104, AZ-700, or AZ-500.
• Experience with Google Cloud or AWS, Veeam, VMware Site Recovery, Azure Backup, or Azure Site Recovery.
• Experience implementing Microsoft 365 services, Kubernetes custom resources, ITIL/ITSM practices, and high-availability environments.
