Electrical Design Engineer (Healthcare)

Location: Remote role based in O’ahu, Hawaii, United States; reporting to the main office in Tustin, California. Travel as needed, up to 75%.

Base salary: $90,000–$125,000 per year.

What you will do

• Design building electrical systems in accordance with project scopes, client requirements, codes, and industry standards.
• Develop power distribution, lighting and lighting control, fire alarm, nurse call, and other low-voltage systems.
• Conduct existing-building surveys and document electrical and fire alarm conditions.
• Prepare and coordinate specifications, construction documents, engineering reports, assessment reports, and Basis of Design documents.
• Coordinate with project teams, architects, other engineering disciplines, and clients through technical meetings and presentations.
• Support construction administration through RFIs, submittal reviews, field coordination, and technical input to project managers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of electrical design experience.
• Experience with electrical engineering calculations, including lighting photometrics, voltage drop, short-circuit and overcurrent protection coordination, and load calculations.
• Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office.
• Strong knowledge of applicable electrical codes, standards, and design guidelines.
• Must be based in O’ahu, Hawaii, United States and able to travel as needed, up to 75%.

Nice to have

• Experience with healthcare, science and technology, education, or commercial buildings.
• Knowledge of HCAI / OSHPD standards.
• Professional Engineer license.
• LEED accreditation or sustainable design experience.
