Architectural Designer III (Higher Education)

Location: San Diego, CA, US; hybrid model with freedom to work from home and regular in-office days. Travel to project sites is required for client, project, and construction meetings.

Salary: $90,000–$130,000 annually

What you will do

• Lead architectural project work from early design through construction under the direction of a Project Architect or senior technical leader.
• Plan and coordinate architectural scope, including maintaining the Discipline Work Plan.
• Produce and manage coordinated construction documents that meet quality, technical, and code-compliance standards.
• Coordinate internal teams, external consultants, and authorities having jurisdiction, including California’s Division of the State Architect.
• Research materials, products, building systems, and specifications to support technical design development.
• Oversee construction administration activities, including RFIs, submittals, and field reports, while mentoring junior staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Architecture degree.
• Minimum 8 years of professional experience with demonstrated technical proficiency.
• Proficiency in BIM/Revit, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel.
• Proficiency in building-code research and interpretation, construction-document management, and consultant coordination.
• Experience with higher education construction and building typologies, as well as mentoring and delegating work assignments.
• Ability to communicate effectively, work under deadlines, and attend project-site and construction meetings.

Nice to have

• LEED accreditation or another sustainability credential.
• Experience with 3-D coordination using Revizto.
• Experience with UpCodes and RIB Speclink.
