Lead Platform Software Engineer (AI)

Location: Remote, home based, with the role located in Oak Brook, Illinois, United States. Infrequent travel of approximately 10% is required; relocation is not provided.

Salary: $132,700–$184,000 per year, with potential incentive and bonus opportunities.

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, troubleshoot, and upgrade APIs, web applications, and other client-facing digital products.
• Lead product delivery teams in collaboration with product and design leaders.
• Set short- and medium-term technical direction and contribute to architecture decisions for scalable solutions.
• Review solution designs and code, package releases, and support deployments.
• Define benchmarks, metrics, and quality measures while improving developer experience through Agile automation.
• Use AI tools to accelerate development while reviewing, explaining, and supporting all AI-assisted code.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in software or solution architecture, including complex enterprise-level cloud solutions.
• Strong knowledge of software architecture principles, design patterns, continuous delivery, cloud foundations, observability, and developer experience patterns.
• Proficiency with Node.js, React, TypeScript, Apollo GraphQL, PostgreSQL, Google Cloud, Jest, Docker, Git, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Practical experience using AI tools such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, or Claude for prototyping, debugging, and problem-solving.
• Experience delivering secure, high-performance, fault-tolerant, and highly available client-facing solutions, including web portals, online payments, and third-party integrations.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent experience, along with strong communication, analytical, organizational, and teamwork skills.
