Mechanical Systems Engineer (HVAC)

Location: Onsite at the production facility in Benson, North Carolina, United States. Regular production-floor presence is required, including construction, commissioning, startup, and operational support. Candidates must be a U.S. Person due to access to U.S. export-controlled information or facilities.

What you will do

• Own HVAC, ventilation, compressed air, plumbing, and fire protection utility systems.
• Support system design, equipment specification, installation, commissioning, startup, and ongoing operation.
• Review P&IDs, mechanical drawings, calculations, specifications, submittals, and vendor documentation.
• Coordinate utility and environmental requirements with process equipment suppliers, engineering partners, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
• Provide field engineering support during construction, testing, balancing, commissioning, and startup.
• Troubleshoot performance, capacity, controls, reliability, and equipment issues while improving safety, efficiency, maintainability, and production capability.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Experience with mechanical utilities, HVAC, ventilation, compressed air, or plumbing systems in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
• Ability to interpret P&IDs, mechanical drawings, specifications, and equipment documentation.
• Working knowledge of fluid flow, pressure systems, ventilation, and mechanical equipment.
• Ability to work onsite in Benson, North Carolina and support construction, commissioning, startup, and operational activities.
• Must be a U.S. Person due to required access to U.S. export-controlled information or facilities.

Nice to have

• Experience with industrial HVAC, exhaust, make-up air, environmental control, compressed air, plumbing, or fire protection systems.
• Experience with greenfield manufacturing construction or major utility installations.
• Commissioning experience, including pressure testing, leak testing, TAB, functional testing, and performance verification.
• Familiarity with mechanical, fire, building, and industrial gas codes and standards.
• Experience with AutoCAD or Bluebeam; PE, EIT, or another relevant professional certification.
