Principal or Senior Principal Engineer (Generation and Load Interconnection)

Location: Remote in the United States or Canada; hybrid possibilities may be available depending on the position. Occasional travel of 10% or less may be required.

What you will do

• Perform complex load flow, short-circuit, and transient-stability studies for generation and load interconnection across WECC.
• Review and replicate ISO and utility interconnection studies, identify errors, and develop alternative network-upgrade mitigations.
• Support generation, large-load, and merchant-transmission developers through Western Interconnection processes.
• Act as a subject matter expert on interconnection studies, industry trends, and regulatory changes.
• Coach and mentor technical staff while managing technical teams and supporting new products and services.
• Build relationships with clients, industry organizations, utilities, and regulatory agencies.

Requirements

• At least 6 years of experience in the electric energy industry.
• Experience with IBR modeling, transmission planning, and/or interconnection studies.
• Strong understanding of FERC, NERC, and ISO interconnection requirements and standards.
• In-depth knowledge of one or more of PSLF, PowerWorld, PSSE, PSCAD, TARA, and ASPEN.
• Experience managing and mentoring technical teams and participating in industry task forces or working groups.
• Experience using AI and automation tools responsibly to improve quality, productivity, and innovation.

Nice to have

• Experience working for an ISO, utility, developer, or consultancy serving these organizations.
• Experience with utilities, transmission service providers, and regulators in WECC.
• Experience with renewable and conventional generation interconnection studies and large-load interconnection processes.
• Automation experience with Python, C#, or SQL.
