Senior Data Scientist, Elastic (Search/GenAI)

Location: Remote within Virginia, United States; travel to customer sites may be required.

Salary: $180,000–$200,000 annually

What you will do

• Design, implement, and optimize lexical, semantic, and vector-based search solutions with Elasticsearch.
• Apply Retrieval-Augmented Generation patterns to improve the accuracy and context of LLM-driven applications.
• Develop embedding strategies, indexing approaches, and query workflows to improve relevance, precision, and recall.
• Consult with customers and translate business objectives, data landscapes, and search challenges into AI-powered strategies.
• Evaluate and integrate LLM and GenAI capabilities into enterprise search and analytics use cases.
• Lead technical workshops, knowledge-sharing sessions, and enablement activities while advising stakeholders on AI-powered search.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience with Elasticsearch for search, analytics, or data science use cases.
• Strong knowledge of relevance tuning, indexing strategies, and query optimization.
• Experience delivering data science or AI-driven solutions in enterprise environments.
• Familiarity with large-scale data platforms and AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, customer communication, and technical explanation skills.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen with an active TS/SCI U.S. Security Clearance.

Nice to have

• Experience with vector, semantic, and lexical search, RAG solutions, RAG evaluation frameworks, LLMs, and GenAI tooling.
• Experience with AgentAI Builder, agent-based AI architectures, or Elasticsearch Enterprise Search.
• Elastic certification or familiarity with OpenSearch, Solr, and Lucene.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity, observability, or operational data domains.
• Consulting, professional services, managed services, mentoring, Agile, or project-based delivery experience.
