Senior Property Treaty Underwriter (Property Reinsurance)

Location: London, United Kingdom; hybrid work with an expectation of at least three days per week in the office

Annual base salary: GBP 112,000–168,000 for a full-time role, plus performance-based variable compensation and benefits.

What you will do

• Underwrite new and renewal Property treaty business within the UKI and London Market portfolio.
• Review reinsurance submissions and documentation, assess risks, and determine portfolio fit.
• Analyse loss history, exposure data, financial statements, and market trends using proprietary tools.
• Calculate and negotiate premiums and make bind-or-decline decisions aligned with underwriting guidelines.
• Build relationships with clients and brokers as a trusted market contact.
• Collaborate with Client Management, Claims & Reserving, Solutions, and Transactions teams on portfolio steering and appetite refinement.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in Property Reinsurance, including treaty underwriting.
• Strong knowledge of the UK and Ireland Property insurance and reinsurance markets, including market dynamics, key players, and regulatory context.
• Proficiency in interpreting, negotiating, and applying reinsurance contract wordings.
• Strong analytical skills and experience using loss, exposure, and financial data for underwriting decisions.
• Ability to build and maintain relationships with brokers, clients, and other external partners.

Nice to have

• Primary Property underwriting experience.
• Familiarity with Lloyd's market operations and syndicate structures.
• Experience with strategic portfolio steering and appetite management.
• Creative problem-solving skills and a relevant university degree or equivalent qualification.
