Portfolio Claims Handler (Insurance)

Location: Hybrid role based in the United Kingdom, with 1–3 days per week in the York or Colchester office and additional office days for training and team meetings.

What you will do

• Handle a portfolio of predominantly third-party property damage liability claims using a rules-based approach.
• Review and confirm policy coverage positions.
• Validate, negotiate, and settle claims fairly and proactively.
• Record claim information consistently and meet defined SLAs and targets.
• Provide feedback to internal and external stakeholders while adapting communication to individual customers.
• Identify fraud and improvement opportunities, helping develop innovative claims solutions.

Requirements

• Strong customer service orientation and commitment to good customer outcomes.
• Ability to collaborate effectively during high-volume periods while maintaining service quality.
• Calm, organised, results-driven, and able to work effectively under pressure.
• Excellent face-to-face, written, and telephone communication skills, including active listening.
• Proficiency with technology; working knowledge of Copilot is advantageous.
• Availability for the required hybrid schedule in the York or Colchester office.

Nice to have

• Previous claims or insurance experience.
• Interest in studying CII qualifications.
