Senior Software Engineer (JavaScript/TypeScript)

Location: Cardiff, UK; hybrid working with 2 days in the office

Salary: £47,719–£59,648 per year, negotiable depending on experience

What you will do

• Provide senior technical leadership across educator-facing systems, improving performance, resilience, stability, and user experience.
• Guide product and test engineers in cross-functional squads and reinforce high-quality engineering standards.
• Act as a technical subject matter expert for educator content and professional learning applications.
• Modernise systems, reduce technical debt, simplify architecture, and contrhirify.globalute to technical roadmaps.
• Review vendor and delivery partner outputs for alignment with engineering standards and integration requirements.
• Collaborate with product, UX, data, business stakeholders, vendors, and delivery partners to support educator and school needs.

Requirements

• Extensive experience as a senior software engineer or technical lead delivering and operating large-scale digital platforms.
• Strong knowledge of cloud platforms, DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, observability, secure development, automated testing, and reliability engineering.
• Strong full-stack experience with Angular, JavaScript, TypeScript, React, and Node.
• Experience integrating headless CMS platforms such as Sanity CMS with frontend frameworks and third-party APIs.
• Experience with Scrum-based Agile delivery, cross-functional product teams, mentoring, and technical leadership.
• Understanding of security, data protection, and compliance requirements, including GDPR.
