Software Engineer (TypeScript/React/Node/AWS)

Location: London, England, United Kingdom; hybrid work with 2 days per week in the London office

What you will do

• Develop and maintain learning-material discovery, book-reading, and collaboration features for web and mobile applications.
• Design and build distributed AWS cloud systems, serverless Node.js backends, and React web frontends.
• Implement high-quality, accessible features using TypeScript, test-driven development, Jest, and Playwright.
• Contribute to continuous integration, code review, deployment, and production support.
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, designers, customers, and business stakeholders from product discovery through delivery.

Requirements

• 2+ years of commercial software engineering experience.
• Hands-on experience with TypeScript, React, Node.js, modern JavaScript, accessible web applications, and AWS.
• Understanding of microservices, REST, object-oriented and functional programming, relational databases, and NoSQL databases.
• Experience with Agile development, CI/CD, web security principles including OWASP, and deployment.
• Ability to communicate complex technical topics clearly and work with non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Degree in a computing-related subject.
