Network Engineering Intern, Summer 2027 (Hybrid)

Location: Hybrid, with 2–3 days in person at data centers in Weehawken and Secaucus and the Midtown Manhattan office. Candidates must be able to work in person in Midtown Manhattan during the summer and permanently reside in one of the approved states: California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Kansas, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, or Utah.

Pay rate: $30/hour for undergraduate students.

What you will do

• Monitor network performance and investigate alerts and connectivity issues.
• Assist with network device configuration, testing, and documentation under experienced engineer guidance.
• Support data center activities, including racking network and hardware equipment and running optical fiber.
• Contribute to network tools, automation, and infrastructure improvement projects.
• Collaborate with technology teams to understand how network engineering supports exchange operations.

Requirements

• Be an undergraduate student entering the junior or senior year in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, or a related field.
• Have a foundational understanding of IP addressing, routing, and switching through coursework, projects, or personal interests.
• Show interest in troubleshooting and learning how large-scale networks operate.
• Demonstrate attention to detail and willingness to ask questions and learn.
• Be able to work in person at the Midtown Manhattan office during the summer and permanently reside in one of hirify.global’s approved states.

Nice to have

• Exposure to Python, Linux, or Wireshark.
