Assistant General Counsel, Regulatory (Fintech)

Location: Hybrid role based in San Francisco, Lehi, or New York; in-office attendance is required on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Remote placement will not be considered. Local working hours are required for PT, MT, or ET, with flexibility across time zones when necessary. Travel to hirify.global offices or other locations may be required. Relocation is available based on job level.

Base salary: $175,000–$230,000 per year, plus potential equity and annual bonus.

What you will do

• Provide strategic and tactical legal support across consumer finance activities and member experiences.
• Advise business teams on new products, services, consumer finance laws, marketing materials, third-party management, and business agreements.
• Monitor and analyze federal, state, and local regulatory developments affecting lending and servicing.
• Partner with Compliance and Risk teams on consumer complaints, compliance reviews, examinations, and regulatory inquiries.
• Improve legal processes and procedures to ensure consistent interpretation and application of legal requirements.
• Support strategic legal matters and potentially oversee other legal team members.

Requirements

• J.D. from an accredited law school and an active license in good standing to practice law in at least one state.
• At least 10 years of combined law firm, government, or in-house legal experience.
• At least 8 years of experience in consumer finance law and regulations, preferably including in-house experience at a bank, credit union, or consumer lending fintech.
• Experience with regulations including TILA/Regulation Z, ECOA/Regulation B, FCRA/Regulation V, BSA/AML, EFTA/Regulation E, TCPA, TSR, CAN-SPAM, FDCPA, UDAAP, and GLBA/Regulation P.
• Strong legal analysis, communication, interpersonal, influencing, judgment, and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to apply AI responsibly to high-stakes legal work while considering data integrity, model limitations, and compliance.
