Director of Engineering (Blockchain)

Location: Remote - United States (East Coast)

Annual salary: $284,000–$325,650, plus equity and a 25% annual bonus.

What you will do

• Own the technical strategy, roadmap, architecture, and delivery for Assets & Issuance.
• Lead engineering teams directly and through engineering managers while hiring and developing senior engineers and emerging leaders.
• Guide architecture for wallets, key management, ledgers, settlement systems, and blockchain integrations.
• Set standards for on-call operations, incident response, root-cause analysis, and operational risk reduction.
• Partner with Product, Security, Compliance, and executive leadership to build secure, auditable systems and translate technical tradeoffs into clear priorities.
• Use AI and modern tools to improve how software is built, tested, and operated.

Requirements

• 12+ years of software engineering experience and 8+ years leading engineering teams, including experience managing managers.
• Experience building systems from scratch and scaling both technology and engineering organizations.
• Experience building and operating complex distributed systems where correctness, reliability, and security are critical.
• Depth in several areas including distributed systems, blockchain infrastructure, MPC or key management, high-availability systems, or security-sensitive financial software.
• Strong technical credibility with senior engineers and the ability to lead architecture and reliability decisions.
• Experience working with Product, Security, and Compliance in ambiguous, high-stakes environments.

Nice to have

• Experience in both startup and scaled-company environments.
• Experience in a regulated environment such as a trust company, broker-dealer, or exchange.
• Direct experience with blockchain protocols or smart contracts.
