Senior Engineering Manager (Fintech)

Location: Hybrid in New York City or San Francisco, United States

Salary: $220K–$235K annually, plus equity

What you will do

• Own real-time transaction authorization and fraud decisioning systems operating with millisecond latency.
• Lead the underwriting pipeline covering credit, fraud, identity, and compliance checks.
• Evaluate fraud, identity verification, and bureau-data vendors using production latency and cost requirements.
• Set priorities and define the roadmap across Credit, Fraud, Product, and Compliance stakeholders.
• Assess system designs and ambiguous technical work using hands-on judgment and AI tools.
• Develop a strong team of senior engineers through ownership, hiring, feedback, and career growth.

Requirements

• 5+ years of engineering management experience building, developing, and retaining strong engineering teams.
• Experience managing through rapid growth, ambiguity, or significant technical change.
• Strong engineering background with maintained technical credibility through hands-on engagement or modern AI tools.
• Experience managing Staff-level individual contributors and developing senior engineers into broader roles.
• Experience owning latency-sensitive, highly available distributed systems in production.
• Clear written and verbal communication, strong prioritization, and the ability to drive delivery through engineering teams.

Nice to have

• Experience in risk, fraud, underwriting, or payments.
