Lead Senior Principal Forward Deployed Engineer (AI/Networking)

Location: Seattle, Washington, United States; hybrid workplace. Travel to customer sites is required as needed by the engagement.

What you will do

• Set cross-engagement technical strategy, architecture, reference architectures, and engineering standards for Forward Deployed Engineering.
• Lead architecture and engineering decisions for customer solutions spanning applications, AI systems, data, APIs, integrations, networking, security, infrastructure, and production operations.
• Write production-quality software and solve complex systems, integration, and production-readiness problems.
• Turn recurring customer patterns into reusable architectures, components, tools, automation, and deployment capabilities.
• Identify platform gaps and define feature requirements with Product teams.
• Mentor engineers and provide senior technical direction across complex customer engagements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical discipline or equivalent practical experience.
• 15+ years of software development lifecycle experience covering architecture, implementation, testing, deployment, and production operations.
• Strong hands-on proficiency in one or more general-purpose languages, including Python, Java, Go, TypeScript, C#, or C++.
• Experience architecting complex production systems involving AI, automation, data, networking, enterprise integrations, distributed systems, or cloud infrastructure.
• Experience providing technical direction across multiple systems or teams and communicating complex decisions to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Must be able to work in the Seattle hybrid environment and travel to customer sites as required. Employment visa sponsorship, including H-1B sponsorship, is not available.

Nice to have

• Master’s or PhD in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, machine learning, or a related discipline.
• Experience building production generative AI or agentic systems with tool use, retrieval, planning, orchestration, context management, evaluation, and guardrails.
• Experience with Model Context Protocol, modern agent frameworks, networking, telemetry, observability, or distributed control systems.
• Experience with cloud-native infrastructure, container orchestration, infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD, enterprise identity, authorization, security, and data integration.
• Prior Forward Deployed Engineering or deeply technical customer-facing software engineering experience.
