TL;DR
Regulatory Legal Counsel (AI): Advising on platform, AI, and digital regulation for X, Grok, and other products across Europe, the UK, the Middle East, and Africa with an accent on the EU AI Act, Digital Services Act, UK Online Safety Act, and regulatory investigations. Focus on translating complex obligations into implementation plans, assessing systemic and illegal-content risks, and working with regulators and technical teams on product compliance.
Location: London, England, United Kingdom; in-office 5 days per week

What you will do
- Advise on EU, UK, and other EMEA digital regulations affecting X, Grok, and related products.
- Support regulatory requests, investigations, audits, consultations, transparency reporting, and enforcement proceedings.
- Work with Safety, Product, Engineering, Compliance, Policy, and Legal teams to assess new features and AI products.
- Evaluate systemic and illegal-content risks, age assurance, protection of minors, content moderation, user reporting, advertising transparency, researcher data access, and AI labeling.
- Track legislation, codes of practice, guidance, and enforcement trends, translating them into practical advice.
- Build scalable compliance processes, templates, and playbooks while managing outside counsel.
Requirements
- Qualified lawyer in good standing, ideally in the UK and/or EU.
- Ideally 5+ years of legal experience in technology, platform, or digital regulation.
- Strong working knowledge of the Digital Services Act and/or UK Online Safety Act.
- Strong understanding of legislative processes and the technology industry.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain complex legal concepts clearly.
- Commitment to working in the office 5 days per week in London.
Nice to have
- Experience with the EU AI Act, AVMSD, or Ireland's Online Safety Code.
- Experience responding to regulatory requests or investigations from European regulators.
- In-house or secondment experience at a social media, consumer platform, or AI company.
- Familiarity with GDPR, consumer protection, and advertising regulation.
- Additional European languages or contentious legal experience.
