Database Engineer I (Cloud)

Location: London, England, UK. Hybrid schedule with 3 days in the London Head Office (Tuesday–Thursday) and 2 days working from home (Monday and Friday).

Salary: £75,000–£85,000 per year

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain relational and NoSQL databases, including PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server, Aurora, and MongoDB.
• Develop scalable database solutions aligned with product and business requirements.
• Integrate database deployments into CI/CD pipelines for automated testing, migrations, and releases.
• Manage infrastructure as code with Terraform and CloudFormation.
• Optimize queries, indexes, availability, backups, replication, and disaster recovery strategies.
• Implement monitoring, alerting, logging, encryption, access controls, and database compliance practices while troubleshooting complex incidents.

Requirements

• Professional experience as a Database Engineer or Database Administrator in a cloud-based environment.
• Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server, or Aurora, with deep expertise in at least one platform.
• Experience with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or Liquibase.
• Hands-on experience with Terraform or CloudFormation and understanding of AWS.
• Knowledge of database security, encryption, auditing, and Kafka environments.
• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
