Senior Scientist, CAR Screening & Lead Selection (Cell & Genetic Medicines)

Location: Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States of America. Fully onsite, lab-based role with extensive bench work.

Base pay: $109,000–$174,800 per year.

What you will do

• Design, execute, troubleshoot, and analyze in vitro assays for CAR-T candidate characterization and selection.
• Generate assay data sets that stratify lead candidates and support pipeline progression.
• Evaluate CAR-T phenotype and function using cell-based cytotoxicity and related assays.
• Analyze complex data and communicate findings to determine next-step strategies.
• Collaborate with discovery, process development, and therapeutic-area subject matter experts.
• Contribute to experimental design and scientific strategy while supporting junior team members and maintaining accurate ELN records.

Requirements

• PhD in immunology, bioengineering, cell biology, or a related field plus 2+ years of relevant industry or postdoctoral experience, or 5+ years of biopharmaceutical or biotech experience for non-PhD candidates.
• Hands-on expertise with multiparameter flow cytometry, including panel design, sample preparation, acquisition, and data analysis.
• Independent data analysis and visualization experience with GraphPad Prism, Spotfire, or similar software.
• Ability to independently design and execute complex in vitro studies with limited guidance.
• Strong organization, problem-solving, project ownership, and collaborative communication skills.
• Must be comfortable working onsite in a laboratory environment with extensive bench work.

Nice to have

• Experience with primary human T cell culture, expansion, and genetic engineering.
• Experience with IncuCyte or comparable real-time cytotoxicity assays.
• Experience with intracellular cytokine staining and cytokine arrays such as MSD.
• Experience with ELN systems; Benchling experience is a plus.
