Diabetes Education Program Manager

Location: Primarily onsite in McAllen, Texas, with travel of up to 30% or more throughout Starr, Hidalgo, Cameron, and Willacy Counties and occasional overnight travel to Corpus Christi and College Station, Texas. Some work outside normal office hours and on weekends may be required.

What you will do

• Manage daily operations, clinical activities, evaluation, and implementation of the Diabetes Education Program across the four-county service area.
• Lead diabetes self-management, health, nutrition, and chronic illness education classes, presentations, consultations, and community events.
• Conduct participant health screenings, assessments, record maintenance, education, nutrition counseling, and cooking demonstrations.
• Supervise program staff, clinicians, student assistants, and interns while evaluating educator performance and maintaining service quality.
• Manage program data collection, analysis, reporting, strategic planning, supplies, medications, equipment, and budget-related activities.
• Coordinate with directors, public health officials, community partners, stakeholders, and regional program leadership to maintain American Diabetes Association standards and recognition.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree.
• At least five years of professional experience, including supervision of staff in a health-related field.
• State license and American Dietetic Association registration and license as an RD/LDN.
• Knowledge of chronic illnesses, biometric data collection, health education, presentations, confidentiality, and program administration.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft 365, including SharePoint and OneDrive, with strong communication, organizational, interpersonal, and multitasking skills.
• Ability to work onsite in McAllen, Texas and travel throughout the Rio Grande Valley service area is required.

Nice to have

• Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist certification or ability to obtain it within one year.
• Master’s degree in a health-related field.
• Fluency in English and Spanish.
• Valid driver’s license.
• More than five years of relevant professional experience with staff supervision.
