Assistant Professor - Mathematics (Statistics/Data Science)

What you will do

• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Mathematics, Statistics, and Data Science in face-to-face, hybrid, and online formats.
• Develop and expand courses and curricula in Statistics, Data Science, Machine Learning, and related areas.
• Maintain an active scholarly research program leading to peer-reviewed publications, professional presentations, and external funding applications.
• Engage, advise, and mentor undergraduate and graduate students in research and academic and professional development.
• Contribute service to the department, college, university, community, and profession, including committee work.
• Maintain professional and collegial relationships with faculty, students, staff, alumni, and external partners.

Requirements

• Earned Ph.D. in Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Applied Mathematics, or a closely related field before the start date.
• Evidence of potential for excellence in university-level teaching.
• Demonstrated potential to establish and sustain a productive research program.
• Ability to interact with students, staff, and faculty in a professional, collegial, and collaborative manner.
• Applicants requiring immigration sponsorship should note that the university will not pay the $100,000 H-1B petition fee and that current Texas restrictions may affect sponsorship eligibility.
• The position includes on-campus office hours and participation in departmental activities in Commerce, Texas.
