SHEQ Advisor – England & Wales (Construction Infrastructure)

Location: England & Wales, project-based with regular travel between offices and live operational sites. The role is contractually home-based but requires a strong site presence and travel across operational projects.

What you will do

• Provide competent, practical SHEQ advice to project managers, site managers, engineers, supervisors, employees and supply chain partners.
• Complete planned and reactive site inspections, audits, assurance activities and behavioural safety engagements.
• Support implementation of Construction Phase Plans, project environmental plans, quality arrangements and the Integrated Management System.
• Review RAMS, safe systems of work and risk controls across high-risk construction activities, including excavation, lifting, working at height, electrical work and confined spaces.
• Respond to incidents, environmental events, quality failures and close calls, supporting investigations, root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Deliver toolbox talks and briefings, engage frontline teams, monitor subcontractor performance and promote stop-work authority where there is an immediate risk of harm.

Requirements

• Full UK Driving Licence required.
• NEBOSH General Certificate, NEBOSH Construction Certificate or an equivalent recognised health and safety qualification.
• Technical or vocational qualification relevant to construction, utilities, engineering or SHEQ.
• Working knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and CDM 2015.
• Experience in health and safety or SHEQ within construction, utilities, infrastructure, engineering or another comparable high-risk environment.
• Practical experience on live construction sites, conducting inspections, reviewing RAMS and supporting incident investigations.

Nice to have

• TechIOSH or higher IOSH membership, or progress toward appropriate professional membership.
• Environmental, ISO 45001, ISO 14001 or ISO 9001 internal auditor qualifications.
• Experience in power transmission and distribution, overhead lines, underground cables, substations, telecommunications or utility infrastructure.
• Incident investigation, temporary works awareness, EUSR, utilities-related or first aid qualifications.
