Senior Network Design and Support Engineer

Location: East Syracuse, New York, United States; on-site network support and up to 30% domestic and international travel. Applicants must be U.S. citizens and eligible for access to classified information.

Salary: $92,200–$115,300 per year

What you will do

• Plan and design customer networks using VLANs, trunking, spanning tree, LACP, redundancy protocols, routing, and network segmentation.
• Develop resilient Layer 2 and Layer 3 architectures with high availability, fault tolerance, rapid convergence, and failure-domain isolation.
• Support customer deployments through troubleshooting, device reconfiguration and replacement, technical refreshes, and on-site or remote assistance.
• Collaborate with product development, deployment, customer support, and other technical disciplines.
• Improve product reliability, documentation, serviceability, and ease of use.
• Develop configuration and monitoring tools using Python, Ansible, REST APIs, JSON/YAML, Git, or similar technologies.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, information technology, or a related discipline.
• 8+ years of relevant experience supporting complex enterprise, industrial, transportation, government, or mission-critical environments.
• Experience with Cisco devices, network communication protocols, network security, and troubleshooting across OSI Layers 1–7.
• Familiarity with Linux configuration, network design, configuration, Wireshark, and diagnostic techniques.
• Must be a U.S. citizen and meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally for up to 30% of the role.

Nice to have

• CCNA or higher certification.
• Current DoD clearance.
• Experience with wireless equipment, Fortinet devices, and JIRA.
• Experience protecting data in transit.
