RF Network Engineer (Satcom/RF)

Location: Carlsbad, California, United States; work includes local on-site activities, remote system access, phone support with on-site smart hands, and up to 30% domestic and international travel.

Salary: $120,500–$190,000 annually. For specific work locations in San Jose, the San Francisco Bay Area, and the New York City metropolitan area: $149,500–$224,500 annually.

What you will do

• Troubleshoot and resolve complex failures across hardware, software, IP networks, satellite communications, and RF systems.
• Analyze root causes using logs, repair information, laboratory issue reproduction, and collaboration with development teams.
• Perform preventative maintenance, system measurements, backups, calibration, redundancy checks, and equipment upgrades.
• Trend network and hub performance using dashboards, logs, test terminals, and historical cases.
• Lead mid- to long-term network projects and coordinate internal and external resources.
• Create and maintain tickets, configurations, diagrams, corrective action reports, and operational procedures.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience implementing, administering, and troubleshooting firewalls, routers, switches, wireless infrastructure, and monitoring applications.
• Experience with satellite earth station equipment, RF performance analysis, virtual machines, and hypervisors.
• Working knowledge of spectrum analyzers and strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to participate in a rotating on-call schedule with a response time of less than one hour.
• IAT Level II certification within 90 days of hire and an associate degree in computer science, electrical engineering, information technology, or equivalent experience.
• US Government position; US citizenship and an active DoD Secret Clearance are required, with the ability to obtain Top Secret clearance.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of bandwidth traffic shaping protocols and implementation.
• Hands-on experience with IPsec and SSL VPN, VRF, OSPF, EIGRP, and BGP.
• Experience with Python, PowerShell, SQL, and Ansible.
• Active CCNA, Security+, Network+, or A+ certification.
• Ability to work variable or extended hours independently or with teammates.
