Director, Application Developer (AI)

Location: Remote opportunity or onsite in Melbourne, Florida; Arlington, Virginia; Herndon, Virginia; Salt Lake City, Utah; Greenville, Texas; Plano, Texas; or Rochester, New York. Security clearances may require U.S. citizenship.

Salary: $184,000–$341,500 in California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Washington, and the Greater D.C., Denver, or NYC areas; $160,000–$297,000 in Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New York State, and Vermont.

What you will do

• Build and lead the development organization for an enterprise Palantir implementation.
• Recruit, onboard, and scale developers, engineering managers, technical leads, scrum masters, and cross-functional product teams.
• Lead integration of 100+ legacy systems through real-time and batch data pipelines, transformation, quality assurance, and delivery.
• Direct the development of enterprise applications, workflows, user experiences, and AI/ML models across finance, supply chain, operations, engineering, and strategic planning.
• Establish engineering standards for code quality, testing, documentation, secure development, agile delivery, and operational performance.
• Partner with architects, business stakeholders, security teams, IT leadership, systems integrators, and executive program leadership to manage roadmaps, risks, dependencies, and delivery metrics.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and at least 15 years of relevant experience, graduate degree and at least 13 years, or 19 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
• Experience building and scaling engineering organizations, including hiring, organizational design, career development, and culture building.
• Expertise in software development practices including agile, CI/CD, code review, testing, DevOps, and secure coding.
• Experience with large-scale data integration, ETL, data warehousing, streaming systems, and enterprise systems integration.
• Experience developing, evaluating, deploying, and governing AI/ML systems in production.
• Ability to meet U.S. security-clearance eligibility requirements where required; security clearances may only be granted to U.S. citizens.

Nice to have

• Direct experience with Palantir development frameworks, ontology APIs, and deployment models.
• Experience with Apache Spark, Kafka, Airflow, Docker, Kubernetes, infrastructure as code, and modern DevOps practices.
• Experience in defense, financial services, utilities, healthcare, or other heavily regulated environments.
• Experience managing multiple product teams or squads in a complex matrix organization.
