Director, Software Engineering, Legal (AI)

Location: Fully remote from a non-hirify.global worksite, most commonly an employee's residence; United States context indicated by the New York job location and US benefits. External candidates may be required to attend an in-person interview at an hirify.global location.

Salary: $180,000–$230,000 yearly, plus bonus and long-term incentive eligibility.

What you will do

• Lead the Legal Engineering delivery pillar and manage engineering managers, staff engineers, architects, contractors, and interns.
• Own delivery, architecture, reliability, quality, and operational health across legal SaaS platforms, custom applications, integrations, and data flows.
• Lead interoperability between SaaS platforms and bespoke software through APIs, data integration, workflow orchestration, and shared services.
• Oversee legal technology capabilities including contract lifecycle management, legal document management, eBilling, intellectual property management, eDiscovery, and legal hold.
• Manage reliability, performance, defects, enhancements, incidents, root-cause analysis, support standards, SLAs, and data integrations.
• Partner with Legal, Product Management, Cyber, architecture, and program leadership while communicating risks, trade-offs, and delivery status to senior executives.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 12+ years of software engineering experience, including 7+ years in engineering management or senior technical leadership.
• 5+ years leading machine learning and automation solutions, plus 3+ years of hands-on AI experience involving agentic workflows or agent orchestration.
• Deep legal technology experience delivering solutions in a large enterprise environment.
• Working knowledge of application security, including SSO/IAM, API security, secure SDLC, and SaaS security reviews.
• Experience leading cross-functional programs with legal stakeholders and managing engineering teams in a matrixed Fortune 100 or equivalent environment.
