AI Engineering Leader (AI)

Location: San Francisco or New York; hybrid work with office attendance expected at least twice a week, primarily Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Salary: $300,375–$425,000 per year

What you will do

• Partner with the CEO and CTO to define and execute research strategy across post-training, model evaluation, search and retrieval, and continuous learning.
• Manage research partnerships with startups, major laboratories, and other external partners.
• Drive high-quality technical content communicating hirify.global research outcomes to varied audiences and platforms.
• Hire, lead, and develop a team of AI engineers and researchers.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience leading applied research, AI engineering, or machine learning engineering teams.
• Deep expertise in modern AI technologies and classical machine learning systems.
• Experience with LLMs, transformer models, agentic workflows, context management, and agentic evaluations.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to empower product and engineering partners.
• Demonstrated ability to attract and retain exceptional AI talent.
