Lead Public Affairs Manager – Defence, Security & Digital Sovereignty

Location: Remote-first across Germany, with regular team gatherings in Berlin and other off-site locations. Authorization to work in Germany is required. Travel of approximately 20–30% nationally and internationally.

What you will do

• Conduct political monitoring across defence, security, budgets, procurement, AI, data, cybersecurity, and critical infrastructure.
• Translate political, regulatory, and budgetary developments into strategic recommendations.
• Build stakeholder registers, engagement plans, and institutional relationships across ministries, parliament, and industry.
• Prepare C-level conversations through executive briefings, key messages, position papers, Q&As, and background papers.
• Develop political narratives with the CDO and Communications and coordinate associations, parliamentary formats, and political events.
• Manage lobby registration, transparency, and conflict-of-interest processes with Legal and Compliance, while feeding insights to GovDev, Product, and Leadership.

Requirements

• 5–8+ years of experience in public affairs, the Bundestag, federal government or ministries, parliamentary groups, associations, consultancies, or technology and defence companies.
• Deep understanding of Einzelplan 14, German defence budgeting, Bundeswehr procurement, and security-policy decision-making.
• Experience preparing senior political conversations and delivering concise executive briefings, position papers, and Q&As under tight deadlines.
• Technical literacy sufficient to explain complex AI, data, and security concepts to political audiences.
• Established political network in Berlin and a structured approach to stakeholder management.
• Business-fluent German and English at C1+ level; authorization to work in Germany required.
