Communications Manager, Policy (AI)

Location: San Francisco, CA or New York City, NY; hybrid attendance required at least 25% of the time

What you will do

• Develop and execute communications strategies for AI security, governance, and responsible scaling.
• Lead external communications about the Long-Term Benefit Trust, public benefit corporation structure, independent oversight, and mission accountability.
• Partner with security, product, legal, governance, and Responsible Scaling Policy leaders on sensitive, fast-moving matters.
• Communicate emerging regulatory frameworks, transparency obligations, public reporting commitments, and oversight engagement.
• Manage reactive media requests and build relationships with journalists and influencers covering security, governance, and technology policy.
• Prepare executives for interviews and public appearances and write blog posts, statements, talking points, and other communications materials.

Requirements

• Experience in policy communications involving complex security or governance topics.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical subjects accurately to broad audiences.
• Experience with issues management and reactive communications under pressure and tight deadlines.
• Strong executive management skills and the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.
• Track record of building media relationships and commitment to safe development of transformative AI systems.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education, training, or professional experience in a relevant field.

Nice to have

• 8+ years of experience in policy communications, ideally at a high-growth technology company.
• Experience communicating about corporate governance, regulatory affairs, or oversight structures.
• Existing relationships with security, governance, and technology policy reporters and influencers.
