Staff Software Engineer (Backend, Kubernetes)

Location: Remote in the United States or Canada

Salary: $180,000–$220,000 in the United States; CA$190,000–CA$220,000 in Canada, plus equity and bonus opportunities.

What you will do

• Architect and develop core components of the hirify.global Platform.
• Work deeply with Kubernetes internals, including orchestration, networking, storage, and multi-tenancy.
• Write high-performance, resilient Go code for backend platform functionality.
• Own feature development end to end, from technical design through release.
• Develop scalable tenancy models for isolation and resource sharing beyond namespaces.
• Contribute to open-source projects and engage with the Kubernetes community.

Requirements

• Deep expertise in Kubernetes internals and architectural patterns.
• Strong programming skills in Go and the ability to translate Kubernetes expertise into efficient production code.
• Demonstrated ability to build independently through GitHub projects, experiments, or open-source contributions.
• Highly technical, self-driven approach with the ability to identify and solve problems autonomously.
• Experience working in a high-growth environment with ambiguity and changing priorities.

Nice to have

• Contributions to the upstream Kubernetes project, including documentation, pull requests, or participation in Special Interest Groups.
• Experience working at an early-stage organization with significant autonomy.
