Backend Engineer (Go/AI)

Location: Palo Alto, CA; San Francisco, CA; or Seattle, WA. Hybrid work with a minimum of 3 days in the office per week.

Salary: $140,000–$219,000 base salary per year, plus performance bonus and equity.

What you will do

• Design, build, and ship batch transcription and streaming ASR API services for a developer platform.
• Own inference API design, model service integration, authentication, rate limiting, versioning, and developer documentation.
• Deploy and operate speech-to-text services across four global regions, establishing monitoring, alerting, SLO governance, on-call rotation, and incident response.
• Architect high-concurrency, low-latency workloads using WebSocket or gRPC protocols, asynchronous job pipelines, autoscaling, and cost and latency optimization.
• Act as the primary technical contact for B2B customers and deliver API features on defined timelines.
• Collaborate with algorithm and product teams on ASR model integration and the developer platform roadmap.

Requirements

• 3+ years of backend engineering experience with strong Go proficiency and production services shipped and operated in Go.
• Production experience building and operating AI/ML-serving backend services, including inference APIs, model integration, on-call work, and incident response.
• Experience with high-concurrency, low-latency services, multi-region deployment, WebSocket or gRPC, asynchronous or queue-based pipelines, and autoscaling.
• Experience designing and shipping public-facing APIs or SDKs with authentication, rate limiting, versioning, and developer documentation.
• Professional English proficiency is required for documentation and direct B2B customer engagement.
• Availability to work in a hybrid format from Palo Alto, San Francisco, or Seattle, with at least 3 office days per week.
