Director of Engineering (AI)

Location: On-site at the HQ in Stockholm, Sweden; the role is primarily office-based and includes an in-office working day during the interview process.

What you will do

• Lead and evolve engineering craft, standards, technical direction, and quality across the organization.
• Lead the platform organization responsible for infrastructure, developer experience, security, and data.
• Advance agentic engineering practices to improve delivery speed and software quality.
• Improve engineering processes, workflows, tooling, and development practices across teams.
• Partner with Product, Design, and Engineering leadership to shape product development.
• Mentor engineers and Team Leads while contributing hands-on to architecture, systems design, and implementation when needed.

Requirements

• Strong software engineering experience with deep technical understanding.
• Experience establishing agentic engineering principles and leading large technical initiatives, engineering practices, or teams.
• Strong systems thinking with the ability to balance speed, scalability, maintainability, and technical debt.
• Experience improving engineering culture, developer experience, organizational effectiveness, and technical execution.
• Strong communication, ownership, long-term thinking, and pragmatic judgment around process and engineering quality.
• Ability to work primarily from the Stockholm office.

• Experience building AI-native products.

Hiring process

• Screening interview with Talent Acquisition.
• Hiring Manager interview with the CTO, followed by a technical interview with two engineers.
• Working day at the Stockholm office involving a case, lunch, and presentation.
