Product Software Engineer

Location: New York, NY (Flatiron); onsite five days a week

Salary: $195K–$245K base per year plus equity

What you will do

• Design and build core product features end to end, from backend services to user-facing interfaces.
• Build backend infrastructure for payroll, payments, and money movement capabilities.
• Work with product operations and customers to scope and prioritize features.
• Participate in a rotating on-call schedule of approximately one weekend every five weeks to support payroll-critical systems.
• Collaborate within a small, high-trust engineering team and use modern AI tooling while maintaining product quality.

Requirements

• 4+ years of software engineering experience, including meaningful startup experience.
• Strong backend engineering background and computer science fundamentals.
• Track record of building products or features from zero to one with minimal guidance.
• Comfort with ambiguity and a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work onsite in New York City five days a week.

Nice to have

• Experience with TypeScript, React, Next.js, Effect, or AWS.
• Experience with payments, HRIS, authentication, or security.
