Engineering Manager - Member Experience (AI)

Location: Remote, USA

Base salary: $156,000–$224,250 annually, depending on geographic zone.

What you will do

• Own squad delivery through sprint shaping, prioritization, backlog grooming, estimation, and tradeoff decisions.
• Ship production code every sprint while working alongside engineers.
• Partner with the Product Strategist to define delivery scope, cost, quality, and timelines.
• Develop engineers through direct feedback, coaching, and performance support.
• Lead operational health, including on-call rotations, MTTR, post-incident analysis, monitoring, and telemetry.
• Evaluate AI-assisted development practices and hire AI-augmented engineers.

Requirements

• 6+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 2 years managing engineers or equivalent delivery leadership.
• Experience shipping mission-critical software to production and owning prioritization and estimation for a team.
• Experience providing developmental feedback and supporting underperforming employees.
• Recent production coding experience in backend, web frontend, iOS, or Android development.
• Hands-on experience directing AI agents through production changes.
• Understanding of CI/CD, logging, monitoring, telemetry, and excellent written communication.

Nice to have

• Experience with an expert-generalist engineering team model.
• Experience across Ruby on Rails, Python, React, Swift, SwiftUI, Kotlin, PostgreSQL, GraphQL, AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, GitLab, Datadog, or PagerDuty.
