Engineering Technician II (Electrical Testing)

Location: Danville, California, United States; onsite. Travel to PG&E facilities throughout the service territory is required 50–75% of the time.

Hourly rate: $56.94–$63.03.

What you will do

• Perform substation and powerplant ground-grid measurements, continuity testing, and soil-resistivity measurements.
• Support onsite electrical testing in the high-current yard and high-voltage laboratory.
• Fabricate and install test fixtures and operate equipment such as hi-pot testers and Meggers.
• Set up, operate, dismantle, and disassemble test yards, laboratories, and equipment.
• Support material handling, logistics, equipment maintenance, and calibration.
• Assist with investigations and electrical equipment failure-analysis activities, working independently or in two-person teams.

Requirements

• Associate degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related field, or equivalent education and experience.
• At least two years of experience as an Engineering Technician I, electrician, electrical technician, or in a similar role.
• Valid California driver’s license or ability to obtain one by the first day of employment.
• Ability to travel 50–75% of the time and perform hands-on field and laboratory work.
• Knowledge of electrical testing techniques, test equipment, and related materials.

Nice to have

• Three or more years of experience as an electrician, electrical technician, or in a similar role.
• Familiarity with quality programs.
• NETA certification or equivalent high-voltage electrical testing, maintenance, and commissioning experience.
