Electrical Test Engineer (EV Power Electronics)

Location: Garden Grove, California, United States; support for offsite testing facilities may require up to 30% travel.

Salary: $110,000–$130,000 USD annually

What you will do

• Lead hands-on bench bring-up, commissioning, and validation testing for power electronics, PCBAs, and high-voltage subsystems.
• Develop, execute, and maintain Design Verification Plans and Reports for performance, durability, and target-life requirements.
• Design and build custom test fixtures, automation setups, and test equipment for complex validation programs.
• Lead root-cause analysis for bench and field failures, participate in DFMEA sessions, and perform reliability calculations.
• Document test findings, report results to cross-functional stakeholders, and work with suppliers to improve product quality.
• Train test technicians and ensure testing follows high-voltage safety procedures.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 3+ years of industry experience in electrical design or testing.
• Hands-on experience testing power electronics devices, PCBAs, or battery systems.
• Experience with reliability calculations, test-profile development, and data analysis.
• Experience with CANalyzer, CANape, CANoe, NI LabVIEW, or similar tools.
• Programming experience with Python or MATLAB for data analysis, along with strong written and verbal communication skills.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with EV powertrain architecture and high-voltage devices such as DC-DC converters, onboard chargers, junction boxes, inverters, and batteries.
• Additional experience with data analytics.
