Instrument and Electrical Technician

Location: Onsite in Martinez, California, at the PBF Refinery; occasional support at two nearby hydrogen plants and approximately 10% travel to other HYCO facilities in the area.

Salary: $53.07–$67.28 per hour plus bonus

What you will do

• Inspect, repair, install, and modify process controls, safety devices, analyzers, PLCs, field instrumentation, and process monitoring equipment.
• Troubleshoot, repair, and calibrate plant instrumentation and controls, including pneumatic and electronic devices.
• Maintain distributed control systems in collaboration with Instrument Engineering Support.
• Support instrumentation and control equipment across two primary hydrogen plants and nearby refinery sites.
• Prepare technical reports and enter accurate equipment information into SAP.
• Work four 10-hour shifts from 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with longer hours during outages or as needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least five years of experience calibrating and troubleshooting industrial plant instrumentation and controls.
• Familiarity with transmitters, switches, analyzers, programmable controllers, proximity devices, level control systems, control valves, safety systems, and pay meter systems.
• Basic computer skills; SAP knowledge is desired.
• Ability to work in an industrial environment involving ladders, stairs, heights, confined spaces, lifting up to 50 pounds, and extended hours on short notice.
• Ability to communicate effectively across technical, operations, and maintenance functions with safety as a primary focus.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of PLC and DCS controls.
